Contracted Medical Practitioners

Photograph of a VMP with a patientGetting a referral to one of our Contracted Medical Practitioners (CMPs) may reduce your surgery waiting time.

CMPs are private-practising specialists who also have access to public surgical lists within East Metropolitan Health Service.

To be seen by a CMP, patients need a named referral to their private practise for an initial outpatient consultation. This referral should be sent directly to the specialist’s rooms.

While this initial consultation may result in some out-of-pocket cost, any subsequent surgery can then be performed free of charge in a non-tertiary public hospital (where clinically appropriate).

If you have an open access referral for a colonoscopy or gastroscopy, please follow the WA Adult Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Services protocols.
